Another Anime Con 2012 as press for Cosplayer Nation.

So AAC was at a new location this year. The hotel was on the same block as the greyhound bus stop. Getting there was simple. As for the Con it self we had a small problem getting our guest badges. The turn out for this con was good. It was clear that the "Homestuck" webseries has taken over this con. About 35 to 40 % of the cosplayers were from this series.

I had a chance to interview Misa on Wheels along with The Vagabonds for Cosplayer Nation. Being a part of the AAC Cosplay Death Match was a lot fun, I was there as Tobi from Naruto. Overall this was a nice con, though going out at night was a problem. I hated having to deal with drunks. This made going out for dinner at night a bad idea.

Rhode Island Comic Con 2012 as press for Cosplayer Nation.

Getting to Rhode Island Comic Con was not too hard to do. Once we got in, we received our press badges and went on our way to the Dealers room. The convention center wasn't used to its full capacity for Rhode Island Comic Con, seeing how this was their first year at this spot. I’m guessing they weren't counting on the amount of people who showed up. On a side note, I wonder whether having Beer Fest happen on the same day as Comic Con helped them or not. From what I was told, those people who got into Beer Fest got the discount price of 10 dollars to get into Comic Con.

Cosplayer Nation, with the help of my team, were able to get interviews with a handful of the guests who were at Comic Con. It was nice to see the convention center was also linked to the mall. For a small convention, I was really impressed with the amount of guests who were able to attend this con.

El Supercast - Episode 89 - New York Comic Con 2012

Filmed while at New York Comic on day 3.

Going to New York Comic Con 2012 as press for Cosplayer Nation.

I have worked with Cosplayer Nation before, as both a cameraman and interviewer at Pax East, Otakon and ConnectiCon.

Overview:

The Good: "The staff was friendly and helpful. For the most part, I was given respect as press. It was also nice to see the staff at 10th Ave and 34th St telling the fans where to go to try and speed things up.

The Bad: 11th Ave construction, this made trying to get into the Javits Center slow and messy. The Javits Center has its ups and downs. The main problem was trying to find an area where your phone would work. Also it would have been nice… If there were more power outlets in the Press lounge. Keep in mind, there were many press people trying to recharge their cameras and only a hand full of outlets. Another problem was dealing with the press registration many of the press people who where there as well as my own team. Never got the 2nd part of the press registration email, or their confirmation email.

As I was trying to get to the Curcon booth for an interview, I ran into a bootlegger. This was a downer from my point of view. It would have been nice… If there was a staff member walking around that kept an eye on who is selling what.

Overall: It was not a bad convention, Cosplayer Nation got about 20+ interviews with different cosplayers while there. I had small chat with WWF superstars, Tito Santana Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. Due to their contact with the (now named) WWE, but sadly I was unable to interview them on film. One of our goals was to arrange a one-on-one meeting with Stan Lee, but due to the fact that our contact person could not be reached, we were only able to cover his panel along with an interview with Adrianne Curry.
